Wedding, Poe, Live Shows, Interview, Fever Dreams, Etc.

Happy November,

November and December are my favorite months of the year…but that’s subject to change as I really enjoyed January and February last year (or this year, I should say). Winter is coming! And with the cold about to sweep into New England, so do new projects, changes in life, uncertainties, relationships, and holidays. This is the season where we come alive creatively.

So, more to the point: Last month, we spent a little time in magical Iceland—a very rewarding, surreal, and extremely eye-opening experience. Baby Neil and Lexy got married in a beautiful Asatru style ceremony outdoors, far from civilization. Amazing stuff and congratulations to them. <3 It put much into perspective for us about how and where we live.

Upon returning to our noisy and polluted home, we released our new album Edgar Allan Poe: A Life Of Hope & Despair for the Poe-inspired art show that took place throughout October in Salem where we reside. All pre-orders were shipped the second week of October. *If any of you have not yet received it, please contact us!* We had a tent for two weekends at the Salem Open Markets where we had Poe albums. tote bags, and shirts. Lexy had a ton of art as well. Our stuff sold shockingly well so thank you to all who attended. It was lovely meeting most of you: thank you to Rob & Jackie for supplying an alarming amount of alcohol, the girl whose favorite band is Current 93 (right on!), Breaux for chatting about Death In June, Slowdive, & Katatonia and giving me hope that something good may happen yet as far as underground music goes in Massachusetts, Lexy’s co-workers for bringing us blankets, and to all the people that found us somewhere down the line and came out to meet us. We were pleasantly surprised! No thank you to the guy who bled all over our table without knowing it, the creepy drum guy who scared off many potential customers by dancing into their paths and making intense eye contact while making a fucking racket, and the ‘missionaries’ who screamed condemnation at all in attendance heedless of consequences.

Moving on, it appears we will be doing a few more art fairs in a a few weeks. We’ll give details when we know more.

We have some remaining Poe t-shirts that we will put up on our website for sale soon. I think we may have 10 left of various sizes? We won’t be printing anymore. These are strictly Edgar Allan Poe shirts—meaning they do not say 1476 on them. Details coming in a week or so.

It is with dread, hesitation, and mild regret that I mention we plan on doing some live shows for the Poe material. The task is gargantuan but, sadly, seems easier to pull off than our ‘regular’ songs. Go figure! We will try to rope Mei into playing violin and some keys for these shows. She played violin and cello on the album for those that don’t know. I guess the only reason I bring it up is because, if I don’t, we probably won’t end up doing it. This makes it almost real and now we’re almost obliged to follow through. But, who knows? This could open friendly doors for us.

Staying with the positive and friendly, the Italian website The Pit Of The Damned has given the Poe soundtrack a very kind and thoughtful review. We also did an extensive interview with them regarding the new album, Wildwood, and the creative process. I did my best not to come off as a spacey, new age weirdo but I’ll let you be the judge. If you’ve read this far into the newsletter, then I can assume you have a high tolerance for my rambling and possibly just reading in general (which is depressingly rare in our current age). Also, in the next few weeks, we will be placing the Smoke In The Sky EP for a sale price. I always feel the need to provide a reason for these things and I could tell you some ‘anniversary-of-the-release-date’ story but I won’t. The reality is that it’s about 75% sold out and if we could sell the remaining copies in the coming year, it would help us to not be so self-loathing.

Well, that is all for now. I return with fever to my couch. If you’re still reading, thank you for tolerating my illness-inspired words.

To Delirium!
