Hello everyone,

The first word you see in our descriptions on Facebook and Twitter is “misanthropy”. That is not due to an indiscriminate hatred for life. It’s more a dismally extreme lack of faith in humanity due to the injustices/lies/corruption/disrespect/cowardice/worship of materialism/lack of individuality/condemnation of individuality/etc. we are all exposed to everyday. More often than not, we don’t leave our homes except to go to work. We don’t have many friends. We don’t have cable or television at all. We don’t read newspapers. We don’t want to be fed agendas, slanted angles, tragedies-turned-sensationalism, and so called “news” about the latest celebrity affair. To say we feel extremely cynical about the world around us is an enormous understatement. We wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of you feel the same way we do to a greater or lesser extent.

We’ve said in the past that the world is utterly saturated with musicians, celebrities, writers, filmmakers, sports figures, etc. telling people who they should be voting for, what they should believe in, who they should donate their money to, what products or political parties to support or boycott… We’ve always aimed to be a refuge from that. It’s tiring, fucking annoying, disappointing, and at times disgusting. We don’t believe people should use their influence to try to make others think like them. Due to that, we’ve kept silent over the last year about things happening in the world that we’ve found very upsetting. We’ve been silent at times when it began to feel like it was wrong to be silent…but we didn’t want to impose our ideas on you…and we carried on making music as well as trying to promote it. So, I promise I’ll leave you all alone and keep my mouth shut after I say this.

We are all painfully aware of what happened in Connecticut a few days ago. It’s incidents like this that make our lack of faith in humanity grow exponentially. It’s not just the murders themselves but how instantly everyone is on Facebook, Twitter, etc. fighting with each other over gun control and mental health. It’s also how the news media is handling everything. It’s sickening… This is a fine example of where our misanthropy comes from… A fucking horrible thing happened and all people can do is say “fuck the NRA” and debate fucking politics with each other…on the internet… This is isn’t about any of us or what we believe in. We can talk about the killer and gun control with no problem because we can vent our feelings at them easily. Innocent children were massacred and all we can do is spout off our beliefs and fight with each other. It’s fucking disgusting that we can’t just pull together no matter what happens in this world. This morning, I saw a list of the names of these murdered children and I couldn’t read it. I couldn’t even read their fucking names.

How can I go online and try to promote my fucking music when something like this is happening? It’s wrong and it’s everything I’m against. It feels fucked up to look at the newsfeed and see a “Buy Wildwood Now!” post in between people fighting or expressing sorrow over murdered grade schoolers. So, I won’t be posting or coming on here until after the holidays. I have a son that I won’t get to see on Christmas but at least I can still see him and I’m grateful for that. I hope you’re all grateful for what you have and I hope you have an awesome and safe holiday. If you order a CD, we’ll ship it out the next day. Otherwise, we’ll talk to you in January.

Sincerely,

Robb
